The Blumounte Protectorate is a non-binding advisory framework operating across Western North Carolina. It will publish positions, briefs, and recommendations on environmental, cultural, and civic matters — and will invite participants to engage with them on the record.

The Protectorate is being opened to offer considered, public, and revisable advice on matters affecting the Blue Ridge region — its watersheds, night skies, soundscapes, historical fabric, and the continued capacity of its communities to deliberate for themselves.

What it will be
A framework for advisors and participants to publish reasoned positions on regional matters, and to invite response on the record.
What it is not
A government, an ownership structure, or a representative body. The Protectorate makes no claim of jurisdiction and will exercise no administrative function.
How it will proceed
By open publication. Positions will be dated, revisable, and archived in full alongside the reasoning that produced them.
